Another world

In other news ... the upper valley slow section have been pottering about. Slowly. This week a gentle meander on mountain bikes which took in the post-industrial delights not only of the canal bank along the valley to Luddendenfoot, but also the disused railway line from Rippondon to Sowerby Bridge. Now that's the kind of technical riding I can cope with, and the kind of hills I like. Oh, there had been some other bits and pieces of upping and downing beforehand, but I won't bore you with those.

This picture gives you a flavour of the scenery along the railway (still open to bikes, horses and walkers, but closed to rail passengers from 1929 and to freight from 1958, apparently, according to the nice people at:

Now next week, how about we decide a pub, and a convening time, and then plan some route(s) accordingly? Ian
